Reference Dubplates is an independent lathe-cutting service based in Amsterdam, founded by music producer and artist Matt Gardner (aka Terekke). Born from a lifelong love of collecting records, our mission is to share that joy by lowering the threshold for physical media creation. What began as a personal fascination with vinyl production and mechanical design developed, over several years, into a custom built record lathe. Hand-built electronics are the heart of the set-up, carrying the signal from the computer through Class A/B amplification into a feedback cutterhead the cuts the groove. The result is a near 1:1 reproduction of the music onto vinyl record.
